Your rights to information ...

From 1 July 2010, the new Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (GIPA Act) replaces the Freedom of Information Act 1989 (NSW).

The new reforms create new rights to information that are designed to meet community expectations of a more transparent and accountable government. State and Local Government agencies are proactively releasing to the public more information than ever before.

Location Map

Platypus Country Bombala Region is situated in the visually stunning south east corner of New South Wales. We are just two hours south of Canberra, a little over an hour from either the Snowy Mountains or the Sapphire coast and are surrounded by the majestic tall timbers of the South East Forest National Parks.

We are renowned for our fine wool, beef cattle, timber, lavender production, mountain bike trails, fly fishing and of course our resident platypus. Our warm and welcoming communities invite visitors to relax and explore our unique rural area. Businesses are encouraged to relocate to our relaxed, vibrant region.

Escape, Indulge, Enjoy … Platypus Country Bombala offers it all.

Community Survey March 2014 - As part of Council's community consultation process the latest community survey was undertaken in February/March 2014. This survey was sent to all residents and ratepayers and Council was pleased to receive responses from 18% of the adult population of the area.

The report is broken into four sections dealing with the following issues:-
1. Demographics – profiling the sample against the population
2. Interaction with Council – providing information on where respondents interact with Council.
3. Infrastructure, Community Facilities and Services – Detailing specific services and facilities and levels of satisfaction.
4. Strategic Questions – detailing what the respondents saw as important for the future.
